all four level bids were described as 5-9 hcp with 8+ cards in suit bid. I think this is a bad treatment :)

Ah, the ultra-canape system. Only useable when you have exactly an 8500 shape, you open your 5-card suit and rebid your 8-card suit. It's a great system - I suspect the only reason this isn't popular amongst experts is the lack of frequency. :)
